Monday, Monday

Today was just a typical Monday...nothing too exciting, but I had fun at dinner time with my little gigglebox. I was feeding him a piece of peach and it slipped out of my hand. When it tumbled to the floor, I said "Whoops!" and Carter giggled and giggled. After that, if I said whoops or he dropped something...it was all giggles. I have been trying for the last half hour with no success to post a video of the giggles. Hopefully, I will be able to upload it later this week!

To tempt you with pictures of my precious men while you wait...just a few pics to share from our weekend...

10 Months

It hardly seems possible. Carter has now been here longer than I was pregnant with him. I can't believe he will be one in just two months. I guess I should at least start thinking about what to do to celebrate the milestone!

We have such an amazing, fun, funny, and happy son. I think one of the greatest compliments we have received about him came from his teachers at school. She called me to give me my weekly update and said that Carter really makes their day because he is so happy, fun, and loving. As we were leaving yesterday, she said "Carter, how I am going to make it three days without you?" and, of course, he just smiled and smiled at her. We truly are blessed that he has amazing care and teachers who love him while we are at work.

Last night, I went to dinner with a group of girls (some from work) who are starting a bible study. Nick is out of town golfing for the weekend, so I took Carter with me. He was delightful. He snacked on a couple of things I brought for him, a roll, but mostly he just talked with the ladies. He crashed when we got home, though, since it was a little past his bed time.

Last night, I met another woman at dinner who works for Lilly and is from Alabama. Yes, I know, hard to believe we haven't met before, but we work for a big company. We both have had people tell us that we needed to meet the other, but we had not done so. Anyway, she is originally from Florence (not too far from Nick's hometown) and she and her husband live down the street from us--well, to be specific, over a block and down six...but essentially down the street. What a small world!

Weekend in Decatur

This past weekend, we traveled down to Nick's hometown to visit family and so that Nick could play in the Member-Guest golf tournament at the DCC with his friend Wes. We had a great weekend. Nick enjoyed playing lots of golf, while Carter and I spent some quality time playing at the pool with Andrea, Banks & Mary Reese.

We got to stay at Popsy & Gigi's new house. It was very nice--and so nice of them to have us. Carter had his own room the first night, but it was a little too bright come nap time the next day. So...I moved his pack-n-play to one of the closets, and he slept like a champ! He doesn't like to feel like he is missing anything, so I think being in the closet makes him feel like it is ok to go to sleep.

Carter traveled beautifully. We drove down there Wednesday night, so he slept basically the whole time. On the way home, he slept for the first two hours, and then he wanted to be entertained. Nick and I took turns sitting in the back seat and playing with him. He was a hoot...but that is another post!

Thanks to our friends and family in Decatur for a fun weekend!

Father's Day Festivities--*Updated*

August 27, 2007

June 15, 2008
Well, not really feastivities, but it was still a fun day. Nick started off his first official Father's Day with a round of golf with several of his buddies. Carter and I hung out at home and played until Dad came home from golfing. After feeding Carter lunch, we slathered everyone with sunscreen and headed to the pool. We enjoyed a wonderful, sunny afternoon at the pool. Happy Father's Day, Nick! You are a fantastic father. Carter and I are both incredibly blessed that you are his dad!

Carter has come a long way from his strong dislike of the water three weeks ago. This weekend, he has even taken to the baby pool--loving that he can sit up and play. He even tries to crawl around, which he does pretty well with until he reaches for something floating. That is when he usually looses his balance. So far, he doesn't seem to mind. He just coughs a little and keeps going. I know he will get even more daring as the summer goes on!

The picture below is for Nick's family. Although Carter isn't eating a blackberry jelly biscuit, the pose should look a little familiar (just reversed--Nick's other hand is up in his picture.) Thanks, Aunt E, for sending the Nicholas picture! I just thought it was too funny not to post.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads we know and love!

Makin' Music

Last week, we got a new toy for Carter. He had been wanting to stand up and play, and we didn't really have anything other than the exersaucer, which wasn't cutting it. While he napped last Friday afternoon, I put together the Leap Frog Musical Learning Table. He loves it! He stood right up and started pushing the keys, and playing with all the knobs and buttons. He even bounces along with it when it plays music. I tried to get that on video to post, but he wouldn't cooperate.
If Carter isn't playing with his music table, he is pushing a ball around the house and crawling after it! He also LOVES to climb on anything--pillows, furniture, us...you get the idea. He has so much fun and it is such a joy to watch him explore everything.
He also has a few new tricks. Carter is giving "five" to people and when you ask him "How big is Carter?" and say "So Big!" he raises his hands to show you how big. How cute is that!?!
See, Mom, this is how you do it

Is it time yet?

It would seem so.

I have been talking for a while about how Carter needs a new carseat, but I am having a harder time convincing myself to go and get them. Yes, them--we'll need two since Nick and I both take and pick him up from school depending on the other's schedule. I saw a comparison picture like this on another blog, so I thought I would do one.

I guess it is pretty evident that it is time to go buy the two NEW and IMPROVED car seats for our growing boy!

Thursday--the new Friday

At least for me. Starting this week, I have changed my job status from full time to 80%. That means that I will continue in my same job, but I will work 4 days a week instead of 5. I am super-excited about the change and very much looking forward to spending more time with Carter!

The Pool, take 2

Finally lovin' it!

We took Carter back to the pool yesterday for another try. This time, we started in the baby pool, (which was very cold), but it didn't appear to help. Carter was fussing and not really wanting to play in the water very much. Nick suggested that we move to the big pool, which was much warmer. At first, Carter was still fussing a little bit, but after about 5 minutes, he stopped fussing, and in about 10 more minutes, he was really enjoying it! I think it helped that there was another baby with his parents in the water, too...and that little one was loving it!

Not really sure about the baby pool
