Following in Daddy's Footsteps

Quite literally, I may add. Despite the fact that I am neither technologically- nor blogger-savvy enough to turn this video the right way, I had to post it. While I was in North Carolina yesterday for work, Nick and Carter were snowed in with 12.6 inches of snow. Nick took this video of Carter to share with me when I got home.

It would appear that he is definitely related both to his Uncle Steve (who has a weak spot for shoes and coats) and his cousin Mary Reese (who definitely has a shoe fetish). Not only does Carter like to try on any and all shoes, he also likes to take our shoes off and put them back on our feet. Nick and I laugh that he is headed for a career in the Nord.strom's shoe department!

It's the Little Things

...like juice boxes that make life so good!

Carter thought he was BIG STUFF drinking from his juice box all by himself!

Under Protest

This is how nap time under protest manifested itself today.
The view from the door. Look through the slats on the left side of the bed to see what I saw when I peeked in on him.

Of Course

Carter has a nice, cozy play area in our basement with LOTS of activities, toys, books, puzzles...you get the picture. Plenty to entertain him and endless options for play. {don't worry, he doesn't use the exersaucer anymore, that was out for a friend!}

Carter, however, would rather play in the bookcase that we recently emptied because we replaced it. He loves taking the pegs that held up the shelves out of the holes and putting them back. I promise you, he was entertained for a good 30 minutes with this!

Doesn't taste so good, though.

All into it.

Just think of all the money I can save on toys!

What's goin' around

For the past two days, my sweet little fella has been fighting some cold/fever bug that he picked up. I feel so badly for him!
Luckily, Wednesday morning we had a well visit scheduled with his doctor for his 16 month check up. She checked him out, but didn't give any shots because he already had a fever. She was able to tell me the specifics of his cold/fever bug which was essentially that he would have a fever for about 72 hours and it would fluctuate between a low-grade fever and a fever that could get as high as 104! Fortunately, I don't think Carter has made it to 104, but it has been high.
Since Carter hasn't been feeling well, he hasn't been his usual busy, playing self {and we've been home the last two days from work/school}. You can see in the picture above what he has spent the majority of his time doing. In between the high fevers, I've gotten a glimpse of my typical Carter, but suffice it to say that Ty.lenol has been our best friend.
In well-visit news, Carter now weighs 24lbs, 8oz and is 32 and 3/4 inches long, which puts him in the 50% & 85% {that was for Nick!} respectively. She was very pleased with his development, though rather than showing off these skills, he fussed because he was feverish!
Hopefully, tomorrow will round out our 72 hours and Carter will be better by the weekend!

I'll Just Bet...

...you didn't have this much fun today!!!

This was waiting on me when I went in to pick Carter up at school today! Fortunately, a green-faced little boy was not waiting on me! They cleaned him up rather nicely after he had his fun!

Overdue for an update

I guess I have neglected the blog over the past week...but, with good reason. Nick, Carter and I traveled south for a few days. Nick and I went to the disaster that was the Sugar Bowl, and Carter stayed in Decatur and played with his cousins for a few days.

We made it to Decatur around lunch time on New Year's Eve, and were able to spend some time with Nick's family before heading to Nashville to fly to New Orleans on New Year's Day. It was nice to be at Andrea's on New Year's Eve when Nick's little sister, Stacey, called with BIG NEWS!!!
Playing Rock Band with Uncle Christopher {who ROCKS on guitar}
Carter, Banks & Mary Reese also had a big time playing {and eating yummy food}. Banks & Mar even got in some good practice for being older siblings for their new baby brother coming this March!

Eating sausage balls!

They also thoroughly enjoyed opening Carter's Christmas present from Popsy & GiGi.

Nick and I had a great time in New Orleans and enjoyed seeing and running into lots of our friends...some that we hadn't seen in quite some time! Too bad the actual game left a lot to be desired.

Enjoying lunch in the 70 degree weather before the game

Rich, Clint & Nick

the most spectacular display we saw out of the Tide on Friday night

We flew back into Nashville this morning where we met Andrea, Debbie, Banks, Mary Reese & Carter for breakfast and a child-drop-off before heading back to Indy. It was a fun trip despite the fact that the Tide didn't really show up for the ball game, and we are glad we were able to make the trip. Thanks to Andrea for having Carter and to all of our family and friends who offered to keep him so that we could enjoy a fun trip to NOLA!
